LG G8

LG has launched a striking smartphone with technology we haven't seen before in the smartphone world: the LG G8 ThinQ features Hand ID. Because the sensors on the front can see your veins, you can safely unlock your smartphone by holding up your hand.

Besides Hand ID, the G8 is filled with other useful features. It comes with a 3.5mm port for musics fans, and you can charge the phone via the USB-C port and Quick Charge 3.0. The QHD screen is an OLED panel, so it uses the 3500mAh battery efficiently.

Hand ID for various tasks

Not only can you use Hand ID to unlock your phone, you can also change the volume and launch apps. If you have dirty hands from cooking, you can easily unlock the G8 without having to pick it up.

Large and sharp OLED screen

Thanks to the notch at the top of the display, the OLED panel covers almost the entire front. This means that the 6.1-inch screen is easy to use with one hand. It has a 3120x1440 pixel resolution, so you won't miss a single detail when you watch a film.

Superfast Snapdragon 855 chipset

To support all these features, the G8 ThinQ is equipped with a Snapdragon 855 processor by Qualcomm. The G8 is able to run any app. Combined with 6GB of RAM, the phone can perform multiple tasks at the same time without problems.

Lots of sensors to unlock

Besides using Hand ID, you can also use the fast fingerprint sensor on the back to access your phone. The front sensor makes a 3D scan of your face, so face recognition is an option as well. The 3D scan is very secure and can't be fooled by a photo of your face.

Premium glass design

Both the front and the back are made of glass, which makes the device feel very premium. Because all sides have been rounded, the front and back flow seamlessly into the metal casing. The cameras on the back don't protrude, and that's a plus because it greatly diminishes the chance of a broken camera lens!

The screen is a speaker

You won't find a speaker at the top of the screen. LG has decided to fit a special speaker underneath the screen. The screen now functions as the sound box of the speaker. When making calls, the person you're calling will sound even better and it doesn't matter much where you place your ear.

IP68 certification and military test

The G8 is water and dust resistant, so you won't easily have water damage. The phone also comes with a MIL-STD 810G certification, which means that the smartphone is very capable of withstanding falls and scratches.

Three cameras for beautiful photos

The front camera consists of an 8-megapixel sensor that can take a good selfie in no time. On the back, two cameras are fitted. These will always shoot beautiful photos, and you can add a cool bokeh effect!

Battery with 3500mAh capacity

You'll only have to charge the LG G8 once a day thanks to the battery with a 3500mAh capacity. The USB-C port at the bottom can charge the battery superfast with Quick Charge 3.0, so you'll finish charging it in a flash!

Enough storage for average user

The LG smartphone is equipped with 128GB of internal storage. You can download all your favourite apps and store your high-quality photos. After using it for a long time, the storage may fill up, but you can expand it with a memory card or use online storage.

Android Pie 9.0 with LG UX

The G8 runs on an Android operating system called Android 9.0 Pie. LG has added their own software skin to make slight changes to the user experience. This makes app icons look slightly different, and you'll find some extra settings.
